Ash Wednesday, February 14th, brings us into the Lenten season—following the steps of Jesus to the cross! Each one of us is challenged to take these weeks in Lent to deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Christ (Mark 8:34). May it be our desire increasingly to follow after Him! To deny yourself during Lent, try one or more of these:
▪Fasting one, or more, meals each week
▪Doing something for others in your neighborhood
▪Setting aside a specific time each day to pray
▪Reading God’s Word, maybe a specific Book of the Bible in Lent
▪Turning off the TV more intentionally
▪Denying yourself lunch, or a dessert, to support Global Partners

Church of the Cross commits to reach spiritually lost people in our zip codes by: (1) intentionally praying for the people in our zip codes, (2) generously giving for outreach and ministry to people in our zip codes, and (3) by becoming a “sending church” by 2020—sending out workers to do God’s work! Help us think & pray about what this will look like in Carlisle!
